recently, i‘ve been feeling nostalgic about a radio show i used to co-host (hallo echo) where i could play any kind of experimental music on thursday nights. it was the only show where we wouldn’t talk about the music but rather let it speak for itself. i had lots of fun trying to paint pictures with sound. doing this show had a great impact on me and shaped my approach to listening/playing/mixing/experimenting/expressing feelings through music.
unfortunately, after a couple of years i lost appreciation for the format, got bored, lazy and basically just played the longest possible tracks i found so i didn’t have to do as much work mixing the tracks.
that‘s when i had the idea for a music show highlighting queer artists (queertopia) to replace hallo echo and so the show ultimately died in january 2022 (the sets are still on mixcloud).
although hallo echo is dead, my love for experimental/contemporary music lived on quietly. and like many things in life, you start missing them most when they’re already long gone.
altough i lost this show and will never get it back – i do have this page that no one cares about where i can dump texts like this. sooooo anywayyyyy…. mixing this was fun – i put my whole heart-ussy in it.
and i made this cover using a picture my grandmother took in mecca in 2010 (not related to the mix, but now you know)
xx
